Anybody else having stability issues with the current version of Firefox? I've been having tons of lock ups and application crashes since I last updated, happens 2 or 3 times a day now. I do tend to keep 15 or so tabs open at a time but I've always done that without an issue in the past.

I'm starting to get pissed.

I looked at the forums you linked and at least I'm not the only one. I wish I could connect it to something but I'm not running anything different and the freezes/lock ups/crashes seem to occur randomly. I havn't installed new software and since I noticed it happening I've even taken to killing programs running in the background via the task manager as administrator before I launch Firefox and see no difference in the frequency of events.

I looked around and the best solution people have come up with is to roll back to the previous stable version before 3.6.6.

I haven't had many outright crashes but things load slower and sometimes not all the way.

I don't know if I could even cope with changing to another browser. Maybe Opera which is what I used before I jumped on the firefox band wagon.

Blame Farmville users?

The answer of course is yes. Even if it's not Firefox related you should blame people who play Farmville.

I just checked and I have been using 3.5.10...

If you like Chrome then try SRware Iron. Its based on Chrome.

My Firefox has been pretty consistent through all the updates, though there was one that disabled the page back, page forward, and page close icons in the top left of the browser that annoyed me for a day or so before I found out how to fix it. Today it has been running really slow though. I had three open windows and one of them was streaming the Open on ESPN3 though so I don't know if it was FIrefox or ESPN3 that was causing the problem. I have Chrome as an alternative and I like it speedwise but I hate not having a progress bar and a lot of the other various knick-knacks that Firefox has.

If you were streaming video, it was most likely the Flash plugin. Flash has a horrible reputation. It's part of why Jobs has banned it from the iPhone/iPad.

You probably just need to kill and restart the browser once Flash starts acting up. Mom kept complaining to me about her browser (Firefox) then I was over there one day and notices she plays Farmville on Facebook constantly...

And oh yeah, the thing they always tell all users who are having problems with Firefox:

"Have you tried safe mode? Safe mode turns off all your plugins. Some plugin is usually the problem."

And yes, when somebody's shown me a computer with the browser being slow, I've several times narrowed it down to just needing to uninstall a plugin.

I've been keeping close to 40 tabs open while downloading 2-10 files from 1-5 different services. I have been having close to 30 when I initially open. But, honestly I have very few add-ons other than java, flash, Google & Norton toolbars, .NET framework, and DownloadHelper [for capturing flash files].

The only problems I've been having lately was with DownloadHelper, but the update of the add-on seems to have fixed that problem.

Why don't you just use JDownloader?

i tried the chrome and it seems faster but the interface... i hate my bookmarks so far to the right and i do miss some of my dumb lil plugins in firefox. it seems faster now too but i am keeping chrome installed and even made it my default so maybe i could get used to it in small doses.

I like seeing the guy in the Wakefield shirt. He's the only current Sawk I can stand. Gotta respect the knuckleballer, no matter what uniform they where.
