I tried shopping with the mom and pop places when they were still around. I quit pretty quick. The prices were insane.

I do avoid buying plants of any kind from home depot or Lowes though and hit local independent nurseries. Everytime I buy plants from HD or Lowes I end up infesting my existing garden or house plants with mites or aphids.
