I was in the teamsters. I hated working for a union. If you do work in an area that is union controlled you constantly have out of work union guys who think they are owed a free living becasue they have a union card questioning you if you are working about your union status. They want to know your Local and then want to see your union card. I used to tell them I was a scab just to piss them off.

Unions cater to the lowest common denominator. If you have a work ethic you have to endure watching lazy stupid assholes with seniority do nothing while getting rate scale.

I hated having essentially 2 bosses. You work for the company and you work for the union so you have 2 groups constantly trying to pull you in different directions when all you want to do is your job and go the fuck home. Instead you management tell you something, then the lzy worthless union brothers run to the shop steward who comes over to drag everything down by arguing, then it escalates and they have to call in a union rep from your local who has to talk with management then in the end you end up doing what you were originally asked but just this once...until next time and they do the dance all over again.

The union solidarity shit is total BS. I got onto a rate job where I was making 3 times an hour more than my normal scale but becasue I had less seniority the other union bastards fucking cried to management and the union about it. The one time I get into a bad situation the fucking union tried to fuck me and it was management that pointed out that in the contract they decided who worked on what jobs as long as people with seniority were assigned work for the day.
