I don't know why I didn't mess around with this stuff before. But, I just threw Windows 7 with Window Media Center and hooked it up to a TV a week ago. You get a $9/month Netflix subscription and a free Hulu account and it's almost shocking how nice the setup is.

No idea why all the pornographers don't have this setup for their web sites. I saw some channels in Media Center, it's just like you need an XML feed on your server with links to your movie files to make a video podcast. I didn't look into it, but it doesn't look tough at all.

With Google TV coming out this fall and you'll be able to buy a Logitech box that hooks up your TV to the internet for $100, the audience for this stuff is only going to get bigger.

I'm telling you pornographers, you're missing the boat. I thought pornography was supposed to drive entertainment? Like, I know one of porn's triumph was the popularization of the VCR. The computer industry needs you guys to help popularize a technology and you're nowhere to be found.

And, I can watch longer porn movies without skipping around, just looking for the good parts that way. Major advantage for legit studios over the tube sites.

And, if you're going to bitch so much about piracy, lower the damn price of your web site subscriptions. $30/month is ridiculous. I join a site for a month, maybe two and download everything I want then cancel. I'm not paying $400/year to get into your site. How much is HBO per month? Like 7 bucks? And, you guys want 30?

Go ahead and fight the war with DMCA's and whatnot to cripple piracy. You got to do that. But, you know it's not going to defeat it. So, you gotta compete with it. This "lean-back" experience Google is pushing with Google TV is exactly what you guys are looking for.

It might be a touch early now, but having used this technology with Windows Media Center, this stuff is coming. With Hulu Plus coming and Google's big push for it, it's not far away.

they will come around on their terms....and not the viewing publics.
