Never did shoe polish or Sterno, or know anyone who did. Cheap booze is plentiful.

I remember in one of the little red light district bars in Panama an MP and I drained a gallon of Johnny Walker Black over the bar. I really liked Scotch, but didn't often spend the money for the good stuff, Dewar's IIRC was good. I like it in a medium glass with one large ice cube.

In Okinawa, my best friend who grew up right across the street from me rented from a bar owner and paid his rent in Johnny Walker he bought on base. Primo stuff of them. I drank Suntory.

Never did develop a liking for Gin. Yech.
