During a recent visit to the Czech Republic, I went to see Konopiste Chateau. It’s about one hour’s drive outside Prague and was the last home of Archduke Ferdinand. He and his wife were assassinated by a Serbian anarchist in Sarajevo in 1914, resulting in the start of the First World War.

Photos are not allowed inside the building but I wanted to share some of the grounds. There is a nice rose garden where peacocks strut and preen for you. One male was romancing a female with his plummage but she didn’t seem interested. I overheard an English woman remark, “He’s all talk.”

Archduke Ferdinand was an avid hunter and shot approximately 300,000 animals during his lifetime. There are trophy rooms in the home detailing the date and place where the animals were killed. He shot birds, lions, tigers, elephants….anything with a heartbeat, it seems. How ironic that he got shot himself. Poetic justice, I guess….or maybe a really intelligent gorilla learned how to use a gun and they pinned it on a terrorist to save face.

Hmmm. A reason to go the Czech Republic besides the plethora of hot anal whores.

I worked less than an hour per day so it was cool to do something else for a few hours.

Get to Ceske Budovijce by any chance?

No, but I hope to visit soon. It's on the list. Last year, I went to Karlstein Castle and Kutna Hora. Both were cool to see. In Kutna Hora, there is a famous Ossuary, or bone church. Thousands of human bones made into designs, chandeliers, etc. Creepy but remarkable.
