I can't say how McCain would have handled it exactly. I can tell you how I think he would have. One, don't drill so far off shore that you can't put actual people down there. Hands on is way better than remote control. Two, wave the Jones Act to allow the foreign help in that the Dutch offered on Day 3. Four, wave the fucking bureaucratic clap trap about the environmental studies and help the Governors build the damn sand barriers. Five, bring experienced engineers and experts in to counsel, not academics and lawyers and do it in the first week. Six, don't take two vacations or play 52 rounds of golf. Be seen acting from the beginning, appearances are half the effort, if he needed some recreation he could go to the Nixon bowling alley, although I know Obama is an elitist snob and doesn't like to bowl.

Say what you want about McCains politics, but you better recognize that experience counts for something and Obama and his administration have none. There is a good reason Obama has so many Czars, it's because he has to outsource almost all executive decision making.

In fact, this is the way Obama strategy meetings probably go.
