Nikki Haley, an Indian-American Republican woman running for governor, a “raghead” several times while explaining how he believed she was hiding her true religion from voters. “She’s a f#!king raghead,” Knotts said. He later clarified his statement. He did not mean to use the F-word. Knotts says he believed Haley has been set up by a network of Sikhs and was programmed to run for governor of South Carolina by outside influences in foreign countries. He claims she is hiding her religion and he wants the voters to know about it. “We got a raghead in Washington; we don’t need one in South Carolina,” Knotts said more than once. “She’s a raghead that’s ashamed of her religion trying to hide it behind being Methodist for political reasons.” President Obama’s father is from Africa. His mother is a white woman from Kansas. Y'all don't know shit about this State, and are blinded or duped by what the media chooses to cover. This woman is leading here in the Republican Primary for Governor. That means she is a Republican herself for folks like gunker who don't understand our system. Prior to this idiots statement, in the past couple weeks, there have been two men come forward and say they had sexual relationships with this woman. The most credible claim came from the young man who runs www.fitsnews.com I actually believe his claim, as he has posted some incriminating records. The second claim came from a really complicated source who'd just been fired by an opposing candidate and I give it less credibility. Long story short our politics are as corrupt as say, Minnesota's, but still infinitely less complicated than a place like Chicago's. We just have a smaller gene pool of political operatives to draw from and they inevitable get intertwined- sometimes between the sheets. What's funny is that the national media didn't report her adultery stories, esp. the one with "proof", only the one where someone called her a towelhead. And I agree with whoever applauded this guy- if nothing else at least you know what he is really thinking.

So the point is that South Carolina is full of bigots and inbred idiots. How is this new to anybody? If anything being a bigot would make you more popular in SC.
It's a state that thinks they were on the right side of the Civil War. They think Lincoln was the bad guy and the slave south had the moral high road. (cue XPT redneck to talk about how the Civil War wasn't about slavery because that's what their daddy/cousin told them)
The state flag is the Confederate flag. I'm betting the obvious bigot gets an even larger margin of victory when he is up for reelection.
Basically what I am saying is fuck each and every single person in the shitty state of South Carolina. Your women are ugly, your men are morons and your beaches are shit compared to California.

He is wrong on every single point, J.B.- The State flag being so easy to check for a person of average intelligence just shows how ignorant the other points are. But really, it's not worth arguing with pieces of shit like this. Better to let them believe what they believe and hopefully "boycott" and stay the fuck out.

Yes, I lived in the mysterious South Carolina that nobody else can ever understand unless you spent 100 years there.

I'm not sure how many states you've lived in have any bearing on this subject. A Charin with a camper might easily surpass you there. Were you living in a camper in all of those states?
And the "arbitrary line" you mention is far from such. Register your shasta camper on the north side of said line and try voting on the south side of same.

He actually was only partially wrong. The confederate flag had flown over the state capitol from 1962 until 2000.
On April 12, 2000, the South Carolina state senate finally passed a bill to remove the flag by a majority of 36-7. The bill specified that a more traditional version of the battle flag (square shaped as opposed to the rectangular flag now flying above the statehouse) would be flown in front of the Capitol next to a monument honoring fallen Confederate soldiers. The bill then went to the House, where it encountered some difficulty. But on May 18, 2000, after the bill was modified to ensure that the height of the flag's new pole would be 30 feet, it was passed by a majority of 66 to 43, and Governor Jim Hodges signed the bill five days later. On July 1, the flag was removed from the South Carolina statehouse.

The flag I posted predates the United States (1765), and is the flag of the State of South Carolina.

No, I didn't live in a camper, but I did have a buddy who did live in one. He was born and raised in South Carolina and lived there his whole life. Furthermore, I say the person who lived in a state and then outside of the state has a much better understanding of what (if anything) is unique about the state in question. The person who has never experienced anything other than the street they grew up on has no idea how fuckin clueless they are.
I wasn't talking about "visiting" or else I would have included the countries outside of the U.S.A as well as the states inside the U.S.A. I was talking about permanent addresses. I lived in South Carolina for more than 5 years. I was engaged to a girl who was the daughter of a local sheriff not too far from Charleston, and I broke bread, drank beers and steamed oysters with local bums, strippers, mayors, state representatives, and law enforcement officers all over the state. Sorry to burst your bubble. Let's see some more rationalizations to allow yourself to believe I don't know what I'm talking about, hmmm?

It was still common up through the 1920's for people who had lived in the South for generations to have a still-living relative who had fought in the Civil War, and that relative was always a Confederate soldier; there was never a Union connection. That's why there's still a Confederate preference: great-grandpa was a Confederate, never Union, and if you celebrated your heritage it was always Confederate since there was no Union background.
Celebrating Union things in South Carolina makes as much sense as celebrating Confederate things in Chicago.

Our legacy continues. This guy came out of nowhere. He made zero campaign appearances. No speeches. Beyond the filing fee he spent no money on his campaign, and he raised none. Yet he beat out a 4 term Statehouse veteran for the Democratic Party's nomination to run for US Senate against Jim Demint. He was so far off the radar that no one- not the dem. party or his main opponent bothered to meet him or search his background. Well, after winning, it turns out he has an outstanding felony obscenity charge hanging out there, and he refuses to step down. It doesn't really matter- whoever the Dems run is going to be crushed by Demint, who is truly a good Senator. But now they are running with a sex offender. At least our Governor and front-running candidate did everything consensually.
