I don't think there's an answer. The bureaucracy in government is far too entrenched to allow any kind serious reform.
Maybe another 9/11. I honestly don't know. Societies rise and fall. Maybe we're on the downhill slide.
On the other hand, we have a pretty good standard of living. The poverty stricken have cable tv and cars and computers. That's more than the poverty stricken in the rest of the world can say. So we're sliding off into the abyss. Enjoy the ride.
