 Mike Francesa of WFAN has gotten me to take a closer look at the actor John Cazale. I believe he recently screened Cazale's HBO bio-doc "I Knew It Was You". Though always a supporting character, it seems that his career consisted five feature films in the 70s. Godfathers I & II, The Deer Hunter, Dog Day Afternoon and The Conversation. Oddly ALL FIVE were nominated for "Best Picture" Oscars and all but "Dog Day" are in the LoC's National Film Registry. He was dying of cancer during shooting of "The Deer Hunter". I loved him in "Dog Day". If he had lived, there is a good chance he and fiancee Meryl Streep could have made very talented albeit very ugly children.

First time I saw Dog Day Afternoon I caught it about 5 minutes in on a Saturday afternoon and was locked in. I think I like that better than the God Father. just so dirty seveties gritty.
I heard Fatcesa talking about him too. He hasn't seen the doc. yet. He said he asked HBO for a screener and they must have said give us 5 minutes on it and we'll have one sent over. Mike is a snob when it comes to movies too, not just sports. Guy said today that he don't watch Sci Fi. Never saw a Star Wars movie.

Dog Day Afternoon is nowhere near Godfather. It's good, but hasn't the complexity nor the number of very well developed characters.

Yeah, if its not your thing, but he claims to be such a big movie guy, that you would figure he'd have fun watching the original Star Wars just to try and figure out the movies Lucas ripped off scenes from.
Usually I'm locked into the show while driving around Brooklyn making deliveries. Comes from working with my pop when I was young. Stern in the morning, then switch to WFAN for the Sweater and the Schmoozer, followed by Mike and Mad Dog.

^^^And I got two of my mom's meatballs stuck in my throat since 1976.
Since we are talking Mike, I was amazed that he had Sid Rosenberg in a week or so ago. Yes Mike was very condescending, but on the Stern show a couple years ago, Sid mentioned that Francesa had him removed from the break room while Sid was visiting the FAN. Francesa don't like cokeheads, unless they are LT, Doc, Darryl, Imus, etc, etc.
P.S. I liked Sommers better on middays than over nights, unless I need help sleeping. Beningo was a better overnight guy because he's usually high energy. I thought him and Sid would have been great replacements for Imus.

Saw part of one of the Karate Kid movies the other day. I got to thinking how much the scene of the kid balancing himself on one leg in the boat on the lake was shot just like the scene were Fredo is offed in Part II. There's a parody in this somewhere of Fredo as the Karate Kid but I haven't got all the details worked out in my head yet.
