Extradition sucks and seems unjust but at the same time US marijuana laws aren't exactly a secret.




While this definitely sucks with a capital X, Canada really dropped the ball on this one.

The extradition treaty between the US and Canada contains a double indemnity clause. If you stand trial in one country for a crime you cannot be tried for the same crime in the other country. It would be "double jeapordy".

Canada SHOULD have tried him and fined him the 200 Goonies, then the US would have no ability to prosecute.

There's deeper politics going on here and I, for one, am ashamed of my country's "WAR" on drugs policies.
