From what I have observed, the "Do not post about ..." directives seemed to have had a negative impact on the forums.

People should pay more attention to how many unregistered users are lurking XPT at any given time. There may not be alot of active posters but there are quite a few people reading XPT at any given time of the day.

(iii) Cretaceous. Too many trolls sign up and try to prove their mettle against the previous posters, they spam the board trying to insinuate themselves into the mix. PAFH, kate/arthur, Steve Lockwood, Donkley Long.
(iv) the Current Era. Trying to find an identity. Nothing wrong with that. Just for the Hell of it, mopez is gonna be back available to post within the next 5 minutes
The one constant across the eras was Simp/CAOH/windsock! There would be no cogent XPT without Trav. Nothing more needs to be said.

I think I qualify as a lurker, if not pro at least AAA farm league. I stumbled in here by accident and stayed for the characters and some funny ass writing that was often scathing, not hateful, and generally taken in stride by the flamed.
Demise? I dunno, maybe decline.
It all seem to go to shit for me around the time Kunt Lackwood (sp?)had his moment on the XPT main stage. Seems like he threatened to either kick or lick(I forget which) the ass of anyone talking trash about him, easily predating Donny Long's douchebaggery.
