Maybe this belongs in awop but then again who can predict where a thread will go. This is a place to post about particularly satisfying drinks you've had. Some of them you never forget.
As for myself, there are several:
Costa Rica: we rented a tiny suv in San Jose and struck out on the horrid highways trying to reach our destination driving through fog and rain on the shittiest roads I've ever seen. As we climbed the Arenal Volcano we came through the cloud cover and found this great "soda" on the left side of the road. We pulled in, ordered some Tico Tacos (which are nothing like the shit at Taco Bell) and there I experienced my first Imperial Beer. My God- it was so clean tasting. Refreshing, light, and it complimented the food so well.
College: I returned home on an extended break and a high school friend and his girlfriend came over to my house to socialize. Parents weren't home and we drank two quarts of Tequila and swallowed the worms. We walked outside in the suburban street and tried to count stars, satellites, what have you. It was probably one of the best out of body alcohol experiences I ever had... What made it so cool was the female not acting like one- we were all just on the same channel.
Camping: Pulling my camper up the Saluda Grade with the radiator overheating and worrying about the brakes. I finally made the offramp and wound my way up the mountain roads to the park. Pulled into the campground with the camper and had a flat tire. Got the flat changed thankful it didn't happen on the highway and checked in. I found out someone had canceled and they upgraded me to a spot directly on the lake. Got the trailer leveled and set up in record time, lit the grill and poured a Bourbon in my glass just as the sun went down over the water. My God that was the most relaxing sip of Bourbon ever as the warmth spread from my stomach to my extremities and knocked the chill off the night.
Some of those drinks are so memorable I'll never forget the taste, or the burn. So good. So satisfying. It's not a frenzy or euphoria...it's that warm glow that feels so good.

During the 2005 holiday season, I attended the annual company holiday dinner. It is my habit to bring one good bottle of wine to share with the corporate leadership reporting to me. I grabbed a long held bottle of cab from my storage (a small vintor in Staggs Leap). After giving about 5/6 of the wine to others, I sat back and tasted the remainder. To my horror, it turned out to be one of the greatest wines that I have ever tasted, and I already gave most of it to others.

That was awesome... I liked it most becauseyou shared it and followed closely after that..it was awesome.
This is definitely outta my comfort range as far as what I would ever post here. Gia may know a lil about this and maybe Jim.. or not?. The best/worst drinking experience I have was passing around the absolute biggest soda cup you could get from taco bell filled with vodka and a lemon at around 5 am. I was left coast in those days(heyy jif..llc) and I had to pitch in less than 4 hours. Good times, funsies. My spitter was fucken hot, untouchable even, for like 3 minutes.

I know that soda cup- they pump that crap into you at a Taco Bell.
I forgot to mention going through the Burger King drive thru and buying the largest coke they had at the time (early 80's). We'd proceed to the Char-Pal liquor store on Busch Blvd (which was the inspiration for a scene in Goodfellas) and bluff our way into a bottle of Southern Comfort. We poured out half the Coke and topped the cup off with whiskey. We hit the road with those drinks in a '66 Mustang and headed to the phosphate pits to meet our friends.
Good times. Southern Comfort never tasted so sweet.

Any time i can get the American version of Miller High Life (not the MGD), i am happy. There was nothing better than knocking those back in the night air when I have been there in the past.

16 years old, Summertime: My friend Ryan had just come back from a trip to Mexico with his dad. He brought back with him a bottle of mezcal. Middle of the day and we decide to go shot for shot. The burn was strong but good. He quits at 9 and I do 2 more. We get on our bikes and go by this girl's house. I win in the battle of alpha-males and get to take the girl upstairs. The first Guiness I ever had in Dublin.
I never went in for that "you can't get good pizza anywhere but New York" crap or any regional variation on the idea. "You've never had Lobster til you've had it in Maine" ....yeah right, whatever.
Then I had my first pint of Guiness in Ireland. Hotel bar, 5 star joint, random pint.
Unlike anything I have ever tasted. No shit. I'm not a big Guiness drinker but I have had several of them all over the world and this time the addage was true. They keep the best stuff at home.

Nashville Tn. , went for Tenn./Vandy football game, 1 hit of acid, uncountable beers, strip club, red light district, peep show [attendent was murdered just after we left], friend got cold cocked by bunch of black dudes in a convertible, police arrested them, friend picked up a tranny by mistake, hooker in a bar, Tootsies lounge, private club until sunrise ,trip home, drunk, bar in Oak Ridge, me in back seat sick and wanting to get the fuck to the house. Memorable !

This thread poses a challenge for me, for I am an American of Scottish descent and have been a heavy yet healthy drinker for a long time now. Until after college, I was under the impression that nothing should be memorable after drinking, a blackout was one's reward for a job well done.
I'm now a functional alkie who drinks with his pinkie finger raised, I drink for the enjoyment of whatever spirit I have at the time. So, L'Chaim!
Q's of Miller High Life whilst playing basketball til the wee hours on humid Iowa summer nights. 2 quarts would get it done, 3 and the jumper wouldn't fall anymore.
The first Fat Tire I ever had, at Ed's house in Colorado.
First time I ever put away a bottle of red, Penfold's Shiraz/Cab. Erin was working behind the bar. One day, I will fuck her.

I'm guessing I was about 19. Right coast those days. (big ups lou..ssj) Was working in a Mexican restaurant and had been invited to a party at the manger's home, for some reason I can't remember. First time drinking tequila and just about the last. Haven't been able to since. I've tried.
This Mexican wanted to get his little gringo friend (me) annihilated. Consumed a ton of the shit. Ate the worm. Passed out. Woke up hours later to my head spinning and my car missing from the lot. My boss ends up returning it, after who knows what, with some rear end damage, and I'm hungover for three days. Hadn't known they made hangovers that long.
Moral: Never trust a Mexican.

First party I ever attended. I was 16 and a friend from high school who lived out in the country's parents went to Ohio and left him alone over Labor Day weekend. First alcohol outside of the ceremonial family Christmas and wedding toasts and whatnot I had ever consumed. Got completely shitfaced on everclear and pink lemonade. I remember pissing in his mother's tomato plants and throwing up over the top of the propane tank in the front yard in front of about 250 onlookers. My father woke me up about 8:00 the next morning and made me pull velvet weeds out of a soybean field in what seemed to me like about 105 degree heatwave. I have a hunch he just might have discovered the trail of puke I left from the car to the back porch from the night before.
