For every person that wins the lottery, millions of people loose money. Some of those people (maybe even most of those people) can't afford to loose the money they waste on buying lottery tickets.

Every study that has ever looked at open relationships acknowledges that there are the occasional lottery winners for whom everything works out fine, but that is "one in a million" and virtually every couple who enters into an open relationship is ruined as a direct result of the open relationship.

No, I've never been in an open relationship, and I never will be. On the other hand, the easiest way to get out of a relationship I want to end (just did it a few weeks ago as a matter of fact) is to float the suggestion that we should consider seeing other people. If the chick is stupid enough to go along with it, then fine, I'll start seeing the woman I'm really interested in dating and still have the occasional booty call on the back burner with the dummy who went along with it if things don't work out with the new girl.
