and of course you are wrong to lay all the responsibility for that debt on Obama... remember yr boy W left him a lot of shit and before you say it...the W team blamed Clinton well into the 7th year!
It took Bush 8 years to run up the debt that Obama ran up in his *first* year, and Bush's final-year deficit paid for TARP and other economic recovery measures Obama wasn't dinged for. As for what Bush left behind ... Obama's economic recovery spending is less than 10% of his deficit spending - almost all of the deficit spending is *not* related to Bush but rather inability to spend within means.
Obama was elected to be not-Bush. But so far he *has* been Bush in every meaningful way. The economics are even worse now, F.O.I. requests are up (secrecy), no domestic spying programs have been curtailed, Guantanamo Bay is still open, Afghanistan, etc, etc, etc.
On the economy especially I thought that it would be hard to do worse than Bush, but what do we see? Deficits *planned* to be larger than for *all* other presidents combined, and instead of plans to fix the Medicare fund he's raided it to pay for the healthcare bill.
It's also worth noting that Obama may be fudging the numbers on the deficit, though I haven't gotten it sorted out yet. The White House appears to be reporting a 2009 deficit $600B less than what the Treasury is reporting (25% change - not minor). I think the WH is reporting planned deficits as actual - which is China-class lying - but it might be some other apples-to-orange comparison.
