That's a pretty stupid catchphrase Charin. If you are free of want you aren't free to do what you want, because you are "free of want" and will therefor do nothing. You might be free of want but as long as you draw breath you are not free of need. There is no getting free of need.

And a life free of want is pretty empty- it's basically devoid of motivation to "do". You're like an old wind-up toy with the rear driving wheels and the free steering front wheels- you just bumble through life bouncing off walls and experiences and heading off somewhere else, so long as your drive spring (need) is wound.

I have no objection to your desire for a simplified life just a healthy disgust for your jingoist, vacuous catchphrase.
