... my brother called to ask if I was watching the Oscars.

Turns out it was a joke since I can't watch the Oscars. Something about channel 7 being pulled by ABC on Cablevision for not paying ransom for channels I could get for free with an antenna.

But, I had no clue, and went into a rant on how Hollywood sucks and I don't think they deserve my attention, yadda, yadda, yadda.



Honestly, until college football begins again, I won't notice that my local ABC is gone. Other than college football, I cannot think of the last time I watched it.

Cablevision and Disney (owners of ABC) reached an agreement about twenty minutes after the Oscars started. Channel 7 is back on the Cablevision lineup.

Beyond college games (and I don't watch college half as much as I used to) I think I only watch Jeopardy on the local ABC.

I also get the feed of the ABC affiliate in New Haven so this squabble did not have any effect on me other than local channel 7 programming.

You didn't miss a lot. Martin and Baldwin were okay but it was about the worst televised show of the Oscars I can remember. The director even fucked up the Academy's annual tribute to the grim reaper. The way the Best Actor and Best Actress awards were presented was comparable to standing in line behind Panzer at the Bath & Body Works customer service register--completely unbearable to watch and seemed like eternity until it was over.
