Drama lama is here again! Apparently, Jeff Mulen tried to hire a whore represented by Derek Hay for a b/g/g scene, but only wanted to pay her $500, even though her standard rate is $800. Hay refused and Mullen got all butthurt as a result and cried about it on one of the fake Luke Ford sites. That pissed Derek off big time and he in turn emailed all his hoes that Mullen is "low-balling the talent" and that they "should not stand for it any longer". Mullen got even more butthurt when he heard about Hay's email and is now crying over at another fake Luke Ford site.

I for one can honestly say that I hate Derek Hay. I think he's the lowest scum of the earth. Someone should do a story on how he 'really' started LA Direct, fact is he didn't. Someone go talk to Hannah Harper!
But I digress.
In this one and only one instance, I agree with Derek and LA Direct. I personally think Jeff Mullen is a bullshitter and the entire 'be in a movie and we'll make you a big star' is a crock of shit. Jeff should just admit he's fucking over the talent so as to put more money in his pocket, bottom line.
Derek is right, with the success of each passing parody Mullens pockets get filled with money, his budgets increase in all facets of production with the exception of talent. Why only talent? Because Jeff knows how to BS the girls, its how he built his career in PR, but no crew or outside contractors will fall for his line of bullshit.
And again Derek is right to point out, why the fuck would Vivid or Wicked or Zero Tolerance or Adam & Eve pay a girl a higher rate than Jeff Mullen, who the fuck is he? Some lucky mope who directs parodies, hell Quazar could direct a parody and submit it for an Oscar. I doubt very much that Mullen could direct for any of those 4 studios. He's shooting parodies, people think it's cute and funny, but it's a fad and this fad too (just like Paris Hiltons 15 minutes) will pass. Mullen is making an ass out of himself by trying to say his movies should dictate that a girl accept less money from him than Vivid or Wicked or Red Light or Adam & Eve.
Mullen is trying to milk it while he can, because I'm sure he realizes too the parody genre will pass and he will be stuck writing press releases for clients at $250 a month again.
So bravo to Derek and LA Direct for sticking up for his girls. Mullen is just another typical porn guy looking to "take advantage" of the "poor economy" line of bullshit that a lot of people use. One minute he rambles about the success of his movies, how well they sell, outperform everything else on the market.. but out of the other side of his mouth he talks about hard economic times bla bla bla. Mullen is a liar looking to stick it to the girls as a means of putting more money in his own pocket, plan and simple .
I still hate Derek though, asshole that he is.

No idea who Mullen is, but these whores should take a lesson from "journeymen" in other industries, who take a hit on their pay when the demand is lower. I guess in this case, these whores can always go escort for higher rates, but at higher risk.
Why would the whores be offended by a lowball offer? The offer would be meaningless unless they were interested in accepting it. They can sit at home "tweeting" and earning nothing only so long, only to come to find that the demand may not be there when they finally decide to lower their rates.
This is actually an interesting economics problem; they outlined a similar one in the first Freakonomics book, describing the behaviour in the housing market of buyers, sellers, and the real estate agents. Despite how the agents may instruct their clients, the same agents often behave entirely differently when it comes to selling their own homes than they do when representing clients. Since Derek Hay used to consider himself male talent, it would be instructive to inspect his own booking history in a market climate similar to today's. Unfortunately, it is not published anywhere to give the other side of the story.

Say what you want about not working as an alternative but your not the one taking the risk or getting the crap from friends and family and risking disease for 500 bucks. Times are tough, yes .... but what kind of scene do you really think you're going to get out of a girl paying her a lowball rate ? Yes she may do the scene because she's desperate at that moment, in a pinch, or whatever the reason .... but she's probably pissed about it. Pay the girl a fair rate and you'll get a much better result. Just my point of view .... which is why I won't drop my rate much regardless of how much work i'm getting. Luckily I'm not in a position where i have to. I don't really know Jeff at all other than a few emails here and there over the years .... our timing has just never worked out being i'm an out of towner .... but i'll never agree that 500 bucks is a fair rate for b/g or b/g/g. I'm not a fan of Derek either so I'm not biased. Just my 2 cents I guess.

I'm a little confused. It has been mentioned that it was a 3 day commitment. Was it 500/day for 3 days, or 500 for 3 days work?
They way I originally read it, it seemed like he wanted what equated to 100 off each day. I was thinking that it was equal to paying the agent's cut once instead of 3 times.

I'm LMAO at the fact that both Hay and Mullen are arguing over the value of talent, when the value of the product the talent will help serve is really a poor product to begin with. So what if Tori Black's (overrated) quote prohibits her hire due to Mullen's budget. If the brand itself had true value, then you could hire a performer who looks just and good end even better. FuckedHard18 and Pacino Adventures are 2 sites that have great looking girls, that don't need the stupid angle of a parody, and both Tori Black and Lexy Belle have shot for FH18, and Amia Miley and Stephanie Cane have shot for Pacino. I don't know if they their quote was over $800.00 for those sites, but that isn't the issue.
