My folks had a 6 volume set on the war, printed in like 1946. I used to just read it over and over from maybe grade 2 on. It was very rah rah! the Yanks being all good and the Hun and his Jap allies being all evil. Very simplistic in that "history is written by the victors" sort of way, but still very in- depth. It had a section of the atrocities committed by the Axis powers in general. The soap, the lampshades, the tattoos cut off and framed. That sort of shit that I'm sure happened, but certainly not as widely as was implied.

I agree it was propoganda. Very effective at the time, but it also opened the door for assholes 50 years later to say "oh, this is historically inaccurate, therefor the Holocaust is a lie...but Jews still deserve a good gassing". Now, I'm not saying Coke's a Holocaust denier. But if I were a bettin' man...well, I wouldn't guess either way.

I didn't address his thing about soap made from corpse fat (not Jewish, like he said before...but human, like he said the second time when he was called on it), but to say there was some super secret contingency plan with a special "recipe" is the height of overthinking to try to prove how smart he is. Soap made from human (corpse) fat is made no differently than soap made from pig fat or whatever kind of fat. My questioning was about the logic behind using Jewish (corpse) fat when the Blood and Honour and the Nuremburg Laws made having sex with a Jew a criminal offense. Concentration camp staff were prosecuted for raping Jewish women, for fuck's sake. Sure, harvesting gold fillings and hair is one thing, but soap is really a fairly, um, intimate product, for lack of a better term. Look at it this way. How big would the riots in the Islamic world be if it came out that Ugarit (thank you, Google) soap had any amount of pig fat in it? FatwaCity, baby. It just doesn't hold water, logicwise.
