Origin of this thread starts with me bitching about Freecycle HERE.

As a long time fan of the free section on Craigslist (both giving and getting), I decided to try Freecycle. NEVER AGAIN.

You have to be a member to even view the free stuff. Like used Nissan Maxima spare door handles are that highly coveted. Now because you just became a member, your email will be flooded for life. Never mind selecting the 'do not email me' option at the bottom. I had to contact a moderator 3 TIMES to be removed despite her ok the first time.

Horrible navigation. Even clicking on the items of interest to view further details is a wild goose chase. And forget about posting.

People on Freecycle are dumber than people on Craigslist. What part of stop asking me a zillion questions, it's FREE do you not understand? And why are you texting me? I'm a stranger. We're kinda sorta doing business. I'm not your college buddy. Why are you asking me what area the item is in if the ad clearly says Chatsworth (my storage unit). Why are you telling me in great detail WHY you need the item? This isn't a contest. It's FREE. You want the item...I need to ditch it...let's make it happen.

Just learned of an alternative, www.goodnewsforpolarbears.org. I haven't tried it, though.

That whole idea is such a waste. Type up a listing and answer emails and calls about shit you dont want anymore? In soCal just lock it up somewhere with a chain and padlock and it will be gone seconds, some Mexican will snag that shit in a heartbeat.
