You're forgetting that series like this do very well on DVD, there it will be uncut.

No, you're forgetting I don't forget simple shit like that.

1) I was expressing my disappointment over a particular stylistic choice not ignorance about how business works.

2) The writers/director/producer/whomever seem to agree with me since the cursing and nudity has disappeared completely. The beginning of the first season had obviously gratuitous and unnecessary nudity and language issues, while the later seasons left out any foul language or even nudity that was appropriate to the story line (e.g. sex scenes integral to the story line had NO nudity and were not shown).

3) If the idea was to film a "director's cut" for DVD sales, and punish the core audience along the way with pixelation of nudity and bleeps of cursing, as the series got more critical acclaim, more awards, and renewed for more seasons by the network, you would expect to see more occurrences of bleeped speech and pixelated nudity, not fewer; which is the actual case.

Whatever was going on in the first season, it had absolutely nothing to do with possible DVD sales, and subsequent seasons have improved. I am all for playing Devil's advocate, but come on that was a pretty weak attempt by somebody not familiar with the series they were talking about, hmmm?
