Does anyone have a job for this guy? Please? Majority of the people over here are pretty desperate to get rid of him. Something at some sub-committee of a special commission for a study group would do nicely.
He is not stupid and rather harmless; he just can't lead a team of people and is consistent in failing to keep his government going full-term (4 years). He's from a protestant background, so you know you can expect a lot of lies and 'do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do' bullshit.

Once, he was allowed a visit with W. during breakfast. That is still memorable footage over here and often used by comedians; you could see W. thinking: "Who is this man and why is he here?"
He is very religious, tends to be conservative and tries to be a kind of moral compass. Cokey will love this man.

I thought the only things that could overthrow the Dutch government would be a poor performance in the World Cup or not medaling in any of the speed skating events at the Winter Olympics.

Well, to be honest, I'm not sure how many other Dutch people will attribute the same characteristics to people of the Protestant denomination. However, most will agree in the case of this asshat; he has been babbling about moral values and assorted stuff for over 9 years now, all the while desperately trying to save his coalition government from breaking apart over nothing.
Religion is not a big deal anymore, but there are still some political lines in the sand, so to speak. Some small ultra-religious parties (no abortion, no euthanasia, no same-sex marriage, no homosexuals in front of the classroom, etc.) and one of the bigger parties is an assembly of religious parties. But the bigger the party, the thinner the reli-veneer.
Looks like elections end of May.

Off topic, but I'm curious as to how coverage the Dutch Haiti mission got at home? I noticed that it was a *Dutch* Navy hip that opened the Port-au-Prince harbor, not anyone based nearby...

Dutch Haiti mission? Dutch Navy?
Our armed forces (including the Navy) are in Afghanistan. Maybe there was a mutiny on board that ship that I didn't hear about or they got lost on the way to Afghanistan.

The ship is HNLMS Pelikaan. It got there a week after the earthquake, and managed to clear a channel to a pier, unload, and departed, all in two days. The day _after_ Pelikaan began clearing the US Navy announced that, uh, they'd send a specialize harbor-clearing ship real soon now... The US Navy did eventually send a unit to do a detailed underwater survey.
A French Navy ship did enter the harbor too, after Pelikaan cleared a channel. But it didn't unload any supplies or do anything. It might as well have been a tourist ship for all the good it did.
