nope the anti tax thing is pure tea bagger mantra and the main reason all the Jack Abramoff people are pouring the money in as well as Dick Armey.

Elabo, your interpretation of all things benefitting the liberal view and discrediting the conservative view is clearly astonishing. Do you attend certain kinds of camps where they blast dogma over loudspeakers to come to the conclusions you come to? Go read the last line of that letter, he's anti-capitalist. He's not a conservative.

And, his note isn't just anti-taxes. It's anti-the-complexity of our tax code. Rather than just interpret it like you do everything else as conservatives being idiots, how about actually reading a little of what he says:

Quote:

How can any rational individual explain that white elephant conundrum in the middle of our tax system and, indeed, our entire legal system? Here we have a system that is, by far, too complicated for the brightest of the master scholars to understand. Yet, it mercilessly "holds accountable" its victims, claiming that they're responsible for fully complying with laws not even the experts understand. The law "requires" a signature on the bottom of a tax filing; yet no one can say truthfully that they understand what they are signing; if that's not "duress" than what is. If this is not the measure of a totalitarian regime, nothing is.

You guys who just sit through life working a 9-5 on a W-2 have no idea how complicated the tax code is. And no, you don't have to be a wealthy-ass mother fucker to start and run your own little business.

From what I've read, it sounds like he was just a tax cheat who was pissed off at the government and felt that corporations are the ones who should be paying all the taxes.

I don't know what actually happened, but in his letter he makes it sound like misunderstandings where he didn't realize he didn't pay his taxes. And, as complicated as our tax code is, I know that happens to people.
