I saw an article recently by a columnist, but for the life of me I can't remember who it was. His column was a "what if McCain won" sort of thing and it was about the deficit. Basically he suggested that the auto bailouts would have happened the same, AIG would have been basically the same, there would have still have been a stimulus of a few hundred billion, etc. So there would have of course been differences, but we'd still have a deficit of over $1 trillion.

So when I hear conservatives complain about deficits for the first time in 8 years, and I know they would have essentially done the same thing, you kind of have to ignore it.
