You aren't thinking. It's always better to base your defenses well forward of what you want to defend.

Besides, the Arab world all attacked Israel in 1967 and most Arabs haven't declared peace. Nobody sane gives up forward defensive positions when there's ongoing evidence those positions are still needed. Those defensive positions have to be part of an overall settlement, and I haven't any interest from the Iranians, etc, in such a thing.
