Sweet little series, gory and violent as all get out.
Plus more tits than a strip club on a Friday night. Can you ask for anything more from a series?

I heard that it sucked, other than flagrant nudity. Of course, Fleshbot has been excising the good bits: http://fleshbot.com/search/spartacus/

2nd episode had a 3 second fight in it.
Charge. Parry. Sever spinal column.
It was like watching Gia deal with an advancing fanboi.

I miss HBO's Rome
Yeah, great show that was.
They could have made another couple of seasons depicting Octavian's rise to become Augustus Caeser but noooo...they fucking cancel it, bastards!

Sets and wardrobe were too expensive. Only reason they made Rome is because they split the costs with BBC.

That is what always puzzled me? They had to have had the lions share of the sets and wardrobe already done to make 2 seasons of the show. Hbo at the time was fucking up left and right canceling deadwood and rome, I am betting it had more to do with actors demands for salaries coupled with other expenses ( such as any new sets/costumes) and balancing that with the fact that the show was not bringing in Soprano like numbers ( same with Deadwood). How is Spartacus dealing with the set/ costume money problem CGI? I know that those shows are not returning but how I would love to see movies of them, like Arrested Development is currently doing.

Rome was excellent. I've only seen parts of Spartacus, but Rome seemed like a better produced, better acted show.

First episodes of Rome were really good, then there were several "soap opera"-style episodes I don't care about and then rushed finish. I mean last few episodes were simply ridiculous, an important character died every 10 minutes, they were obviously in a rush to somehow close the story in in extremely limited time after the producers found out that there won't be anymore series.
I've seen only the first episode of Spartacus but so far I like it. It's good for what it is plus there are boobs of course. But I hate that they had to include American-style forced diversity. Negroes as Roman citizens, lol.

It's based on Historical events so there's no way around Anthony & Cleopatra's deaths. The death of Lucius Vorenus gave depth to his reconciliation with his estranged children so didn't seem out of place to me...Servilia had no reason to live after the death of Brutus as the house of the Junii died with him being the last son and she'd lost her status amongst the Patrician famalies, death was the only option...what were the other deaths?

It was never clear that Lucius Vorenus died. Of course that is the story that Pullo gave to Octavian, as Octavian was more than a little unhappy that Vorenus was loyal to Anthony until the end.
In reality, it was Octavian's mother who died only a short time after Anthony died. Servilia lived to a very old age.

Don't worry tritone. You guys have been raping our sisters and daughters for more than 60 years now. We all knew that the day will come when you start raping our history too.
kiwi: Sure, but they were supposed to be 2 additional series taking place in Egypt. Antonius and Cleopatra should have lived for quite a few more episodes.

He did, but Pullo said many things that were untrue. As I said, it is not clear that Vorenus died. It is also not clear that he lived. The show ended with ambiguity concerning Vorenus' fate.

I still have HBO in my Cablevision package, but I dropped HBO ON DEMAND after those shows went off. I think Deadwood was planned to be a 2-3 season show from the start. OZ went 3 seasons longer than they wanted to do, because HBO wanted something to hold the subscribers when Sopranos was off air.
We originally got HBO at my house because I kept telling my old man how good Sopranos Season One was. When other relatives did the same he dusted off some dough and took the plunge. He's dead 10 years and 2 weeks now. Still doesn't seem real at times. Still seems like yesterday when it snows.

Off the top of my head, Oz was going to end when the IRA guy blew up Em City. Series actual finale was when Keller dosed the prison w/poison gas. Its been a while.
