It ended up working out the same but I would have kicked the field goal if I was coaching the Saints on that 4th down and goal. Had it been 4th and a couple of feet or so I would have gone for it but the third down play lost at least a yard on that play and the Colts defense is much faster than I thought they were. The Saints would have been better off having the ball back on the ten or twenty yard line where the Colts have to cover much more of the field on the defense leaving more seams to get the ball to a receiver in. Down on the goal line the Colts don't have to cover very much of the field, just the end zone, and they can stack things up and not give the Saints any room to separate from the defense.
