Quote: What does that mean? What's best for the board??
Yeah, I was pretty vague. I guess I meant something along the lines of putting more emphasis on what would get more people excited about the board vs. just picking people you personally like.
Quote: If the 2 second mention on Stern, during a segment that will probably never be replayed, was the only/main reason for Goat to be a Mod, then why give him 2 Mods?
I never said "only".
Quote: And, YES, Grumman ... you are not a mod because you aren't a Democrat like say, K1ng.
k1ng rarely said shit about politics. Occasionally, but it was buried. You've gotta situation where conservatives are running rampant in AWOP. Then, you've got this one lunatic who's willing to stick up for libtards.
JM isn't a computer program. It's not as easy as talking shit about Obama's health care reform that made the main problem with health care, costs, worse. It's more complex than that. These are just predominant patterns as I've noticed them. I make no pretense as to being able to convince you of interpretative observations like these. At most, notice what I'm saying and see if it seems more true from here out.
Why isn't Bishop a mod?
Why is Elaborator a moderator?
Why was Hyde never unbanned?
I think it comes down to good ole fashioned JM pride. He just seems like the kind of boss that sucking up to helps more than with most.
Quote: And, I think Conky is moderator since so many of us hope he'll someday return.
Yeah, and so does JM. It's that loyalty thing. I've never seen a moderator get kicked, no matter how irrelevant they become to the board. In the archives, I saw something about Sierra Sinn being considered a special case because she went so insane. I wouldn't make Coke a mod, but as much effort as he's put into this place, it's just ridiculous letting JRV have the power to ban him. Thank God we've got Monkey.
Quote: I don't think what's happening here has much to do with JM as a person at all.
Yeah, he's pretty hands off the board. Just picks mods mainly. And, that doesn't happen often. I don't really care. I just think if the mod choices made more sense than "people I particularly like who don't necessarily benefit the board" you would get more of a feeling that people personally cared about the board than everybody just considering it a fascinating piece of shit.
More stuff people are going to disagree with. But, you've never worked at a smallish company and noticed how wierd it is that underlying so much of how the company operates is a reflection of the man in charge's personality? I know I've worked with people who have shocked the hell out of me with how in touch they seem with what's going on in the world, where more than one of them have made that case.
I don't consider what I'm saying an indictment of JM. It's just more analytic than you usually get. Trying to understand various fragments of dirt you find here and there and determine what they mean. And, the thing is, I haven't even really thought about it that much. These posts that are entirely too long is probably the most I have.
And, it's entirely possible JM would read this and if he even bothers to think twice, scoff at it, and do something just the opposite to make me look stupid. But, I don't really care.
