... and Wade's FINALLY got himself a playoff win as well.

Think Philly might be re-thinking that extension to Andy "I'm not Amy" Reid??

This was a wonderful decade for rookie QBs in the playoffs ...

I saw Chad JOHNSON [now that he had to change his name back, as promised] crying at the end.

Going to be rooting harder than ever for the Ravens tomorrow. Rather play the Chargers. Got little if any chance to beat SD, but NO CHANCE against Peyton.

Unfortunately, since 1975 (earliest cognizance) my favorite NFL team (only 4th favorite sport behind College Football, MLB, and NBA) are the Cowboys.

I blame Staubach, the two Pearsons (Preston and Drew), Robert Newhouse, Mel Renfro (Oregon Duck!) and Ed "Too Tall" Jones, then later, Randy White (the undersized "Manster" playing DT) and Tony Dorsett (99 yards on MNF!). And then later, after Montana's reign, Aikman, Smith, Irvin, Erik Williams (the dirtiest player in the NFL), Larry Allen, and Doug Cosbie.

Why unfortunately?

If you've been rooting that long you've seen 4 championships ... even one over the Steelers.

Born rooting for the Lions or the Browns is "unfortunate".

And, while the Lions are beyond incompetent, I think that rooting for the Browns is a worse fate considering how close they've come to the Super Bowl and that their team won after it left and became the Ravens. And, now they have ManGenius for another year.

Unfortunate because it is Texas, perhaps the worst state out of 50. Competitors for that distinction would include: Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and West Virginia, all for various reasons...

Texas leads for: killing JFK and giving us George W. Bush.

Florida comes close for giving us George W. Bush...

Also, at least the Cleveland Browns dominated the 50's, what with Otto Graham, Marion Motley, et al. They were the Packers before the Packers, and when they started to suck, they had a certain running back named Jim Brown:

Jets played a good game. I never would have thought Benson would get 160 yards rushing and the Jets would win. Man I hope Peyton is rusty.

Brady's going to have to throw the ball to Patriots for the Jets to play the Colts. He's having a Favrian day.

Usually during a 51-45 game it is the last two minutes of the game that decide it. This time it was the first two minutes.

BTW Green Bay was absolutely jobbed by the officials in this game. That roughing the passer call when the lineman was blocked into the quarterback was absolute horseshit. Then when the Packers had the ball in OT the same overofficious jerkoff who called the previous roughing the passer penalty missed an obvious helmet to helmet hit on Rodgers.

If Green Bay doesn't piss down their leg at the start of the game they win, but after they cleaned up themselves they were screwed by two calls that had a huge effect on this game and that absolutely no one on ESPN or any other sports media outlet will even notice.

I'm not pissed because I like the Packers (actually I'm bleah on them). I'm pissed because the fucking zebras kept me from going 4 for 4 this weekend.

WOW!! What a game!

Cardinals win even though they lose the coin toss in a game where neither D can stop anyone ... when their D finally steps up.

IIRC, that's 2 consecutive playoff games that the Packers lose in OT when they turn the ball over after winning the toss right after the other team misses a make-able FG in regulation.

I wonder if the Cards/Saints game is going to be as wild next week ...

At 56.5, I don't care who wins, I'm just betting the over.

Jets are getting nine. I don't know if they can beat the Chargers, but I'm going to hope they cover.

Vikings/Cowboys, just like the Philly/Dallas game tough to figure out who I hate less. I'll root for the Vikings and hope Farve gets brutally concussed in the NFC Championship game.

Baltimore/Indy Flacco is gonna have to pass for more than 45 yards to beat Peyton. I don't know if he can do it.

The Cards-Saints game is going to be another track meet. With Grant going on IR though I don't see the Saints having much of a pass rush and they are very thin at cornerback. The Cards are at least fairly healthy on defense and should be able to stop the Saints enough times to win. Enough times=2 or 3. Could be another 48-45 type of game which should put the Cardinals in sole possession of first place in the Big 10 and with an excellent chance of getting a #1 seed in the NCAA tournament as well as one game from the Super Bowl.

The colts are Peyton, and i don't think he will be at the top of his game. The ravens are better than people give them credit for BUT they too will lose to SD next week.

I agree with Cletus. The Ravens will take care of the Colts. The Colts will have gone a month without having to invest one single turd of desire into the end result of a game. That is too long. The Colts can not run the ball and their defense is nothing special. They live and die with Manning. Actually you could describe the Colts and Patriots and the only thing you would have to change are the names of the players.

Chargers take care of the Jets as Sanchez will make up for his lack of turnovers against the Bengals.

Vikings-Cowboys is tough. Either team could win but I think Minnesota has much better offensive and defensive lines than Philly does and Minnesota has not lost at home this year so I'm taking them.

I am not so bold as to venture that the Ravens will defeat the Colts, but I will note our propensity for smashmouth football, and call attention to what we did to the Titans in Nashville in last seasons' playoffs.

Yeah, they were looking good in the first half, then couldn't get anything accomplished.

The deep playoff run will make Sanchez's second year better. They Jets season fell apart when Cotchery got hurt and they traded for Braylon. Working with those 2 in the off season and training camp will get him where he needs to be.

Keep the 2 running backs. Re-sign Leon Washington cheap coming back from an injury.

Sign or draft a pass rushing Defensive End or Outside Linebacker, and they should be good to go.

It's a good thing Diddy... they were pretty solid and more importantly played with heart like a team. I don't like the Jets but i like the way they played this year.

That being said...the fireman guy could get hit by a truck and I'd be okay with it... just sayin. He's at hulk hogan status with the reasonable world. Enough and way stoopid, yes?.

I don't know when or why it happened, but somehow he became the symbol of the Jet fan.

In the rare case when I got tickets to a game, I would either get them from a guy I worked with or a guy my bother worked with. Oddly they both had tickets in the same area, the southwest of the stadium near about the 20 where Fireman Ed resided.

We didn't know him as that. My brother and I named him "Harper" after the well-worn 42 Jets jersey he wore. He would ride on his friends shoulder and lead in in our sections J-E-T-S JETS-JETS-JETS waving his firehat. But, the chant never really started in our area.

Don't really remember how he got so popular with the camera or how I came to know his nom de guerre. But, the last time I had tickets was likely 1995!

So yes, enough already.

I was too depressed and drained to watch the second game.

Too bad for me. Another great game. Another careless Favre interception.

At least, unlike the one against the Giants two years ago, this one came under duress and didn't directly decide the game.

Still ... since I cannot stand the media hype for Favre, his streak, his past drug abuse and his peerless, unbelievable recklessness ... I'm pleased that yet once again it is likely that the last memory of him is tossing an ill advised pass to the other team.

And, I'm not alone .... All of Wisconsin smiled when his pass landed in the arms of a waiting defender.

Join me in a congratulatory salute to Brett: OVER-RATED ::Clap Clap ClapClapClap::

Now Archie Manning has to either root against his kid or his adopted city.

Wonder how Archie would have been in his prime on a decent team????

Hear ya Diddy but ole Archie would be a victim today. Just like any old hockey player it's not even fair to compare. It's a different game. The only game that should stay true to form would be baseball but we all know how that ends.

That interception may have decided the game. Favre could have ran for at least ten yards on that play and set up a field goal. But no, he decided a better idea was to throw back across his body on the run towards the middle of the field. What were the odds that could ever get intercepted? (I think this is the first time I've ever pulled out this graemlin.) Of course if he and Peterson hadn't botched the handoff in the last minute of the first half they would have been in victory formation at this point anyway.

That's Favre. All the natural talent in the world and shit for brains [which is why he has so much trouble learning any new offense].

That's 3 years in row he ends a season with a terrible interception.

2007: Wins OT, throws it directly to a Giant.

2008: To emphasize the apathy of his pitiful, "If we win, we win. If we lose, we lose" pre-game inspirational, he inexplicably throws it directly to a Dolphin with no Jet anywhere close. Leaves analysts speechless.

2009: The aformentioned pick above.

If you like the excitement of risk, you can have Favre. I don't want him. And, unless you run his offense, you can't use him anyway. He's an ESPN marvel. A highlight machine who pads statistics when they don't matter and can be almost always trusted to heave one bad pass too many to cost his team when it counts most.

If you need risk/reward excitement in your QB, might I suggest the woefully under-rated Staubach who would have as many SB wins as Bradshaw & Montana if not for the Steel Curtain. Or, of more recent vintage, Elway who won two when his team finally ran the ball effectively and played some defense [and beat the HEAVILY favored Favre, btw]. Or, even Fran Tarkenton who because he lost his 3 Super Bowls is mostly forgotten when such things are discussed.

In my mind's eye I can see Roger the Dodger [whom, because of his team, I always rooted against] picking up 15-20 yards on the play Favre blew. Same with Elway and Tarkenton and Steve Young and ... Of those in the Hall of Fame, I think only Namath wouldn't have run for the yardage, but only because he was fucking cripple.

But, they all worship that selfish douche Favre ....

He's not smart enough to walk away a winner.

He's too much of an attention whore not to have entire off-season on ESPN revolve around his annual flip-flopping saga.

And, he's too much of douche not to make another appearance at Lambeau just to show off his gaudy new Purple gemmed Super Bowl ring to the heart-broken Packer fans.

This was a football thread and you had to post all the gay wide receivers?

Mopez doesn't toss to wide receivers, just tight ends.

Mopez might be the only to compete with Phlog when it comes to an XPTer with a library of gay porn. But, as of yet no "lab".

I've got it on good authority that Mopez snuck an "in-action" picture of himself in that Frisco montage.
