Hey guys, just curious who has the best production values? This isn't a thread about the fucking per se. It's about behind the camera. I hate to say this but Jim Holliday seems to have good production quality(even though his porn is weak). Vivid's production is weak, I thought they would spend more on it. Remember this isn't about what goes on in front of the camera, rather behind it. Lighting, Camera Angles, Editing, etc. So what are your takes.... Who does a good job behind the camera and who doesn't and why.

Great post. I think both are just as important as each other, you could have the hottest sex but fuck it up with poor lighting and horrible direction and then again you could have boring sex (every devon scene) and it have top class hollywood camera work and lighting. I am a big fan of gonzo, i think its probably the easiest porn to shoot (but what do i know) and you don't need to spend a lot of money on behind the scenes stuff. Jules jordan does a good job and i have seen some of mike south (i think thats right) POV stuff and that was good too. I think vivid spends the most on their stuff but its just awful to watch and im not talking about the boring sex, they try too hard to make it look like a normal hollywood type movie. If i wanted to watch a Hollywood movie then i would watch a holly fucking wood movie, if i want to watch people fucking then i will watch fucking porn, all these distant shots and getting props involved in scenes and elaborate backdrops, its so un necessary and the worst part about it is the hottest women only work for these companies so all this hot sex goes to waste because you can't jerk off to the shit. I can't believe nobody's mentioned sound. That's what fucks up porn, from a behind the camera pov, for me. There's nothing worse than fucking around with the remote control, turning the sound up one minute then down the next because half the shit is a whisper and the other half is some chica screaming "FUCK MY MOTHERFUCKING ASSHOLE YOU SON OF A BITCH!" in the same scene.
Music really doesn't make any difference for me unless it's really, really bad.
One other thing, which I've only seen in "high-budget" porn: reusing footage. In porn, you're hanging on every frame, but some of these Vivid, Wicked, Adam and Eve movies actually use the same footage in the same scene over and over again. They're not disconnected from the sequence (usually) but its still a total buzzkill. Anything that reminds me that I'm watching a movie, whether it's Hollywood or porn, is bad, and shit like that does.

Wow, I know this has nothing to do with production values..but I believe if you are going to shot girls who are not native English speakers...use music to cover up the talking, screaming, etc..Nothing dries me up quicker than listening to a porn whore that doesn't have a command of the English language....Or at least shut the fuck up and just moan when you fuck.

Some great points, but i have to say that any music really pisses me off. Just shot the sex and don't drown out the sex noises. I think that most modern porn has scrapped music because they know that the sex noises themselves are fucking hot and the music just shits people off.
Yes on the recycling of the same footage within the scene, this was the flavor of the decade with vivid throughout the 90's. There was no subtlety to it either.

Well it is really a matter of what you consider to be valuable now, isn't it? For me, it is a matter of avoiding my "Pet peeves:" (1) Poor choice of performers - if the people turn to stone when the camera is rolling, the scene is as dead as Julius Caesar! So many cuties turn in "dead fuck" performances! (2) Poor lighting, sound - if we can't see it, not how fucking erotic can that be? We need to hear them screwing, turn the motherfucking music down! i can't believe i forgot to mention one of the things that fucks me off the most in porn. PROLONGED SHOTS OF THE GUY'S FACES.
