I cross at Metaline Falls, Wa, one of the major pot pipelines from BC. I have the creepy long haired old guy look, tons of medical/ legalization pot literature and usually some fruit and meats, but hardly ever get any hassle at the US checkpoint. A couple of extensive trunk searches, but mostly the usual routine. I've actually had more trouble going into Canada. One time we went up with another couple and the gal at the checkpoint was a real pip. Hassled us about residency, why 2 of us were from different towns than the other 2, why we didn't bring a power or phone bill to prove residency. We were pretty convinced our vacation wasn't going to happen. She finally took all our DL's and disappeared. For 34 minutes. I shit you not. We were freaking out and didn't know what to do other than wait. She finally comes back and hits us with the standard "what are you bringing into our faire land?" question. I told her I had a few cigars and some pipe tobacco. Huge mistake. She just looked at my ziplock of cigars, but reached in and felt around my pipe stuff with her bare fucking hands. Once she was satisfied she gave it all back. I told her to keep the pipe tobacco, because I didn't want it after she had her uncovered hands in it. We were at that crossing for over an hour. Maybe their security isn't as sloppy as I thought.
