That's not entirely true-- yes I shoot mostly on trade since I splurge on the production costs, and my company is still young and small. I refuse to take out a line of credit or take money from investors so everything is hand to mouth for me. If there's a girl that I really want to shoot who has no use for trade content, then I pay her, but usually that's new girls only, since they're not overshot yet. I'm actually surprised at how many girls are happy to do trade, but I think it's because I really do my best to shoot beautiful stuff, I don't go over 10 hours, and I deliver the content web ready: photos are retouched, color corrected and video is edited. I also try to get them their stuff as fast as I possibly can. Also if I am able to sell a set to one of my major magazine clients (Hustler, High Society, Club, etc) then I can pay them a modest model fee depending on what the magazine pays me. Unfortunately, as we all know, that market is suffering so magazines are buying less content for less money and taking MUCH longer to pay.

Believe me, I would LOVE to be able to pay all the girls (at least for hardcore scenes) but I'm realistic and I don't want to overextend myself and end up deep in debt. I'm happy to grow slowly and see where this takes me-- hell I'm happy to be in business, unlike some of our fallen comrades...
