She was at a Los Angeles-area home belonging to her husband, Simon Monjack, where a call was made to emergency services 8:00 AM local time. Murphy was 32.

Its a damn shame . I liked her . That last pic from December really surprised me . She never looked that way . She was healthy .
The last few years all the celebrity girls have gotten into that "Let me get super skinny and it will cleanse my body" phase . It looks like she was doing that stupid diet this year .
I really hope it wasn't from drugs . r.i.p.

The estate/guardian has a lot more interest in her than any commercial entity. If it was up to hubby and he says No, No means No.
The insurer might not have to pay the production company in that case. So the production company would offer hubby money to let strange men with knives & saws violate his wife's body & dignity - just like in porn - and this being Hollywood it shouldn't cost that much (just like in porn).
However in this case state law may either require an autopsy or allow officials to request one over hubby's objections. 32-year-olds generally don't die unexpectedly in the shower and the police are likely curious as to why.

Generally, it is up to the coroner to determine if an autopsy is mandatory on out of hospital deaths by writing down on a little piece of paper his guess/opinion on the cause of death. If the coroner feels like an autopsy is indicated, it shall be done. Hubby, mom, lawyers, police have nothing to say about it.

Clint Eastwood has had the kind of career that every actor dreamed of when they decided to take the chance. The 2 blemishes are Paint Your Wagon, western musical w/Lee Marvin, and being with Sandra Locke, the Anne Heche of the 70's. Maybe less annoying than Anne. Oh, and he was anti gun when he was mayor. It was comforting to me,” Monjack told Access Hollywood, adding he did not know his wife’s former “Just Married” co-star personally. “I couldn’t have said it better.” The message posted by Ashton read, “2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine. My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittany’s family, her husband, & her amazing mother Sharon. see you on the other side kid.” As far as what happened inside the actress’ home early Sunday, when Murphy was found unresponsive in the shower, Monjack said up to that point, it had just been “a regular day.” “[Her mother] Sharon went into the bathroom because she had been in there a long time. Her mom screamed for me and I ran. Then called 911,” he revealed. As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a 911 call from the home at 8 AM on Sunday and eventually transported Murphy to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She was pronounced dead at the facility at 10:04 AM. While LA County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter told Access Hollywood the actress’ death “appears to be natural at this time” on Sunday, an autopsy was being conducted on Monday to determine the exact cause of death. With regards to the coroner noting she may have suffered from flu-like symptoms in the days leading up to her death, Monjack admitted Murphy had been sick – but it did not seem like it was anything serious. “She had laryngitis,” he said, noting she had seen a doctor. “She had been tired at the end of the year. She had made a couple movies.” In his interview with Access, Monjack – who married Murphy in 2007 — took exception to the idea that his wife may have been linked to people who were bad influences on her. “I don’t know why anyone would think that,” he said. “She found love. We found love. Brittany didn’t get to where Brittany was with anyone controlling her… Brittany was Brittany.”

I agree with JRV. If there is no pressing reason to perform an autopsy, it's a wasteful indignity. But, I understand the need in this case. Unless there is some pre-existing congenital heart anomaly, thin 32-year-olds don't normally die of heart attacks. It seems odd to me that hubby wouldn't want to know the cause of death with greater certainty. Unless, as has been suggested he already knows it's something that he'd not wish reported. Anyway, like NY, LA is pretty sensitive to the ritual needs/requirements of Jews/Muslims in regard to autopsies/burials, eg. preservation of bodily fluids from loss. So no valid worries there. Like the ritual need for quick burial as ordered in Deuteronomy might explain, if JRV's source is correct, why her autopsy took place so quickly. Quote:

County Coroner's office. And, there were a shocking number of strong prescription meds on Brittany's nightstand. TMZ has reviewed the documents, written by Investigator Blacklock. According to his notes, Brittany Murphy "had been complaining of shortness of breath and severe abdominal pain" for 7 to 10 days prior to her death. According to the notes, Murphy went into the bathroom at around 7:30 AM Sunday and shut the door. A half hour later Brittany's mother, Sharon Murphy, went to check on her daughter, opened the bathroom door and "discovered the decedent lying on the floor unresponsive." According to the notes, Sharon yelled for help. Brittany's husband, Simon Monjack, who was in bed, heard the screams and ran to the bathroom. According to the notes, Sharon called 911 and Simon "attempted to revive the decedent by placing her in the shower and running the water." The notes continue -- "The decedent remained unresponsive and purged her stomach contents prior to the arrival of the paramedics." When the paramedics arrived, Brittany was "without signs of life." Paramedics moved Brittany from the bathroom to the master bedroom, where they found a slew of prescription drugs -- "A check of the nightstands revealed large amounts of prescription medication in the decedent's name. Also noted were numerous empty prescription medication bottles in the decedent's husband's name, the decedent's mother's name and unidentified third party names." According to the notes, the medications included Topamax (anti-seizure meds also to prevent migraines), Methylprednisolone (anti-inflammatory), Fluoxetine (depression med), Klonopin (anxiety med), Carbamazepine (treats Diabetic symptoms and is also a bipolar med), Ativan (anxiety med), Vicoprofen (pain reliever), Propranolol (hypertension, used to prevent heart attacks), Biaxin (antibiotic), Hydrocodone (pain med) and miscellaneous vitamins. The notes say, "No alcohol containers, paraphernalia or illegal drugs were discovered." According to the notes, "The night prior to her death, the decedent had consumed some noodles, leftover Thai food, Gatorade, water and tea with lemon." The notes also say Brittany had a history of hypoglycemia and was hospitalized in April 2009 for low blood sugar while on location in Oregon." Monjack told the investigator during the 7 to 10 days prior to her death, Brittany complained of shortness of breath and severe abdominal pains but he was not overly alarmed because "she often suffered from severe menstrual pains." Pfffft First off, isnt this Husband some wealthy investor and THAT is the basis of the whole union? Of course, she turned stick thin ugly and her options shrunk precipitously but still.... I generally like whores with eating disorders, but I could never have a full on relationship with one, simply because I am too good of a fucking cook to tolerate my culinary masterpieces floating out to sea via the barf canal 17 minutes after we sit down to eat. fuck that...but on nights when I am numb and just want to listen to a whore's problems before blowing a wad past her tonsils, anorexic/bullimic cum gobblers are a joy. 6 weeks from now, when the tox screens are 100% complete, you will know what croaked her. She used to snort smack and coke like a HooverVac so lets hope it is something straightforward like that and not something ridiculous like a rare allergic reaction to something prescribed. One of my life highlights was when, in 2005, one of my favorite pill whores dropped onto my lap, put her head on my chest and said "I feel safe with you...you'd never let me OD."

Everything I'm reading is that he has a bad reputation in Hollywood and has big time debt. He's a writer/director and they started dating on the set of one of his movies which she was starring in. Last night I read she's known him since she was 17 but they started dating only a couple of years ago and she possibly married him to help him become a citizen.

Brittany Murphy'TMZ has learned Brittany Murphy's body has arrived at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills -- where she is set to be buried in the very near future.
Murphy will be in good company -- Liberace, Freddie Prinze Sr., Buster Keaton, John Ritter and Gene Autry are among Forest Lawn's permanent residents.
As TMZ first reported, Murphy died Sunday morning after she collapsed in the bathroom of her Hollywood Hills home.

The actress, 32, died of apparent cardiac arrest in her and husband Simon Monjack's L.A. home early Sunday. According to a statement released by the family, at the funeral Monjack called his wife his "soul mate." "He went on to say that mystery is the nature of love and you never know when or where it will strike or how quickly it will be taken from you," the statement read. Other family members and friends shared their memories and concluded the service with a reading from The Little Prince. As a teenager, Murphy appeared in TV series, and later costarred in such films as Clueless and Drop Dead Gorgeous. She was due to appear in a Sylvester Stallone movie, The Expendables, set for release next year. "She was one of the world's great actresses," her husband, whom she married in 2007, told PEOPLE this week. "She loved her job … along with her family and puppy. We were more blessed to have Brittany in our lives than she could have been to have us."

Murphy's father, Angelo Bertolotti, said he learned of her death from his son, the actress's brother, and was stunned.
"She was just an absolute doll since she was born," Bertolotti said from his Branford, Fla., home. "Her personality was always outward. Everybody loved her — people that made movies with her, people on a cruise — they all loved her. She was just a regular gal."
He said he hadn't heard much about the circumstances of Murphy's death. Bertolotti divorced her mother when Murphy was young and hadn't seen Murphy in the past few years. He said he used to be in the mob and served prison time on federal drug charges.
"She was just talented," Bertolotti said. "And I loved her very much."
Born Nov. 10, 1977, in Atlanta, Murphy grew up in New Jersey and later moved with her mother to Los Angeles to pursue acting.
Her career started in the early 1990s with small roles in television series, commercials and movies. She is best known for parts in "Girl, Interrupted," "Clueless" and "8 Mile."

He also said there was no evidence of wrongdoing. Winter said Murphy's community-acquired pneumonia was serious and proved lethal when combined with the medications and iron deficiency anemia. Murphy died at age 32 after collapsing in her Hollywood Hills home. Her mother and husband have said the actress didn't abuse prescription medications or have an eating disorder. Attempts to reach them for further comment were not immediately successful. Murphy's husband, Simon Monjack, and her mother, Sharon Murphy, told investigators the actress had been experiencing flu-like symptoms in the days before she died. Monjack told The Associated Press last month that his wife did take several prescriptions, including an anti-seizure drug, but did not abuse the medications. He said she had been taking over-the-counter Robitussin for her recent sickness. Dr. Michael Baden, a former chief medical examiner in New York City, said the quantities and type of drugs Murphy was taking were key to understanding how she died. "One doesn't die of pneumonia, usually, that quickly," Baden said. He said the use of some prescription medications can lead to pneumonia. "It sounds more like it's a drug-related than a natural pulmonary pneumonia," said Baden, who did not work on the Murphy case but has served as an expert witness in numerous high-profile deaths.
