The fact that you would not hit on the wife of a man you know but wouldn't feel any guilt about asking the wife of a man you don't know out for a date is further proof that you're a hypocrite. A self-absorbed, self-serving hypocrite at that.

Yes, I'm calling your "consistency" hypocritical because you seem to be very consistent in your hypocrisy. And I have no doubt that you can live with that. I would expect nothing else from you based on the impression you've given in this thread so far. Two more things: I'm not "some people", FYI. And it is NOT just the responsibility of the person who is in a relationship. It IS the responsibility of the person hitting on her / him, too. There is a reason why homewreckers are usually frowned upon.
