I think you are both onto something and way off base. First of all, I don't see how marrying an (ex) porn star can be detrimental to your career.

It is my fault for not doing a better job of laying out the dilemma in my invented scenario.

Could you use your imagination and invent a situation (no matter how fantastical) where a fictional person (not yourself) has a job that might suffer (either because of clients, co-workers, or bosses) if they married a woman who has pornographic pictures and movies readily available on the internet?

So far nobody responding on this thread can even conceive of such a situation. Am I really so far off base? Could President Obama still have been elected if he was married to a porn actress? What if she did bestiality porn? What about your local pastor? What about the CEO of Proctor & Gamble? An FBI or CIA agent? A junior executive whose boss is a born again christian? An advertising executive whose clients include "wholesome" family values companies? An army general being considered for a fourth star? An upper class family in New England whose father is the president of the uptight country club? Anybody with a mother?

You really can't imagine a life where this sort of thing matters? Nobody else can either? It is easier to imagine getting married to a porn star than having a career or life where that would be a negative thing?

It is one thing to respond saying that to a specific person it does not matter (I can get that), but the responses from people who can't imagine how it could possibly matter to anybody are a bit unexpected.
