The main money in the music industry for musicians is in the royalties if they sell enough records or have a hit song or lucky enough to get their tracks in a movie. Usually the record company makes the most money from the sales and in some cases most likely just to get the advance back from the wanna-be rock stars who they sell a pipedream that most never achieve.
