It has nothing to do with earmarks. Pelosi and her husband are worth over $92 million so she can spend whatever she wants to get re-elected. Because of that fact, she pretty much runs unapposed (unless you count a Cindy Sheehan with no bankroll).
The bad news is that Pelosi's daughter Christine is being groomed to take her seat when she finally retires.
