I dunno about these reactions...
My kid plays soccer and is D-1 material but wants to play for and attend a better school, and he will. His current team(s) are extremely well coached. Lou is right when he says you don't coach the competitiveness. No one tells a kid how to find an edge- if they want to win they find a way.
Mine is more likely to be the kid that says something quietly to the other kid that makes him lose his shit like the girl in the video, except it won't go un-noticed by the ref. Then he scores the PK.
Soccer is every bit as physical as American football when well-played, and twice as mental. I'm sure there are many more sports as examples.
Edit: I mis-spoke as to D-1. American Football schools are classified differently than other sports, per wiki, with classes within D-1. So the kid wants to play soccer and matriculate, but in a place other than you hear about on Sportscenter.
