I got an Acer and it is actually pretty sweet.It has a 10.2" display, 250 Gig Harddrive, 2 Gigs RAM and a Intel Atom 1.33 Mhz Processor. It came with Vista so I scrubbed it and installed XP and it runs pretty fast.I shopped around and I got to admit that alot of them are pretty lame, some even just have a small flash harddrive.The one I got will do anything a full size laptop will do and it is only 2.2#.

These things seem pretty useless to me. Kind of like having something in between a laptop and a smart phone but you can't make phone calls on it. I don't get it.

I have an acer as well.. I got tired of dragging my full size all over the country.. Its small, works great (aside from weird occasional freezing on startup.. after hard booting a couple few times, meh, its all good)
I wouldnt use it for my primary laptop obviously, but great for travel, on the go, probably for students..
It was cheap, it works, its very portable, Im satisfied.

Do yourself a favor and use Win 7 on it. I'd give Hackintosh a go on my HPMini (which I am using now as I type), but after several Linux Distos, I said "Fuck this", and now this thing is somewhat usable.

I hear ya. I've kind of felt the same way, but there are some non power users that would just like a larger screen, keyboard, i/o, etc, in a smaller than standard size for accessing the web on-the-go, etc.
My phone has kept me from making the move, and I don't think I will any time soon. Between the desktops at home, and the phone when I'm away, I'm set for now.
Apple is expected to release it's tablet in the first quarter of 2010. Should be interesting.
I would hate a keyboard that small, I hate laptop keyboards as it is. And if the keyboard is already that small you might as well just have an iphone or something like that. What they really need to make is something that has a full size desk top computer keyboard without the number pad and then a small screen that just folds over. So you would have something less of a square and more of a rectangle shape....bigger than a netbook but smaller than a laptop and your hands wouldn't be cramped when you type.
