Do people really believe it's tube sites that are killing porn (ie: dvd sales)? Or do you believe it's moreso that low cost membership sites like videosz, aebn, videobox are the ones killing tghe industry.
I'm one who believes that the industry is exaggerating its' demise. While 'smaller' players are being hurt by the online push for content delivery, I think companies like DP, Vivid, Zero Tolerance has more than compensated for the loss of DVD sales with their online presence in the form of their proprietary company sites.
Thoughts?

I agree that they are 100% theft driven.... but the quality of the content is absolutely horrible, so I was wondering if the Tube sites account for a smaller part of the drop in sales compared to the low priced membership sites I mentioned that let you watch unlimited DVDs from studios for 29.99 a month.
And isnt anyone concerned or shall I say outraged that the biggest tube sites are owned by Brazzers?

The quality of most of the free streams is crap. The paid ones should be better, although the HD stuff will probably look better on Blu-Ray Disc anyway. A lot of people don't care about quality, as seen with copied music, which usually is compressed with lossy algorithms like MP3 while it's produced in a format better than CD sound nowadays.
Maybe some guilt shit is going on when porn consumers don't see the need for HD in porn. It's dirty and has to look shitty, so to say. Porn producers like Belladonna, who didn't like all the blemishes seen on HD once, can fool whoever they want; they just can't deliver high-end HD. There's just more to it than taking a mediocre camcorder and hire some whores and a minimal crew. Almost everything in HD porn is so obviously below the Hollywood major league or B-movies it's just natural for whores to delude themselves.
The whole push to HD will take several years for a majority of TV sets to be able to actually benefit from the format, not just some low-end "Full HD" bullshit without anything close to color accuracy and sharpness. And the free file hosting sites and torrents probably are more popular than the pay sites as well.
The low-end gonzo productions won't benefit from HD too much and therefore consumers who care about image quality a bit might just not see the point in buying a Blu-Ray Disc in this very popular market segment. Companies like Vivid, Wicked Pictures and Digital Playground seem to try to make fancier stuff that can look better on Blu-Ray Disc and will probably attract some of the pro quality crowd eventually. In a few years down the road, when more and more people realize what a crude format DVD is, and its ripped dervivatives are, it should make an impact in favor of the companies which deliver the better material. The low-end circus act league will then become a smaller part of the market and probably a niche eventually. Some call it consolidation.

If you're reffering to dvd than sites like deluxepass and videos z killed them along time ago. It just takes awhile for a business model to implode. Tubes are hurting everyone. Some more than others. If you have a unique product you are not hurt as bad. If you film regular la porn you're fucked.
You just have to adapt to the constant changing entity which is the internets.

I wonder whats in store for porn after the tubes. Eventually, even they will find it tough to compete as they are biting the very hand that feeds them--their advertisers. Eventually, news laws will pass, and shit will be harder to get. It wont happen tomorrow. It may not even happen in my lifetime, but it will happen. It's inevitable. As soon as the gubment, parent groups, yada yada get wind that it's the tube sites that make porn available to anyone of any age, then they will lay off the producers and realize that helping the producer curb piracy is the way to keep the web under control.
This is my theory. I think it makes the most sense. As I said, it won't happen tomorrow.

There are plenty of people that care. People that have made a living doing porn for years now, are for the most part Shit Out Of Luck.
The quality, integrity and originality of new content is completely Stifled by Recycled Tube scenes.

I think it's a combination of things, but tube sites are definetely a huge contributor. If you can watch practically any star for free, why would anyone pay for it? Myself I think that streaming websites with no downloadable content are the answer. Some people have started using them already and I'm told the success has been pretty good !

Tube sites are killing porn - but so are porn sites. Follow me here.... Pick a random membership porn site, any site and what you see is shit like 732 full length videos, 19520 images, 10 sites for the price of 1, ect. Has anyone in the porn biz ever wondered why HBO has like maybe 10 movies a month, then they rotate them off the next month and add different movies? Just in case nobody has ever thought of it, I'll tell you. It's so you have to keep subscribing to HBO to see movies. If you could subscribe to HBO and download every movie ever made in less than a month and then cancel, you would - and this is exactly what porn consumers are doing. They download 70000 hours of porn and stop paying for the next 6 months. If porn studios are going to survive, they will need to adopt the Hollywood model and provide different content every month - NOT THE ENTIRE LIBRARY!

I don't have any numbers to back it up, but the rule of thumb in business is that collectors are usually just a small minority of consumers unless you're talking about a highly defined, small niche market.
I would never waste time on downloading porn, except for a few special scenes I'm really into. As a bangbros member I can simply click and watch any scene I want in fast and lag free streaming.
And it's really cheap too...monthly membership on BB, ZZ, NA or RK costs about the same as one porn DVD. Sure, I could save a few euros by subscribing every 6 months to download everything and canceling my account immediately afterward. But I simply prefer to spend my time more productively(on XPT for example). I do think most porn sites members are like me...we just like to get new scenes every day and have aces to a gigantic porn database for a modest monthly fee...
Then there are guys like fatman who spend whole nights downloading every single video with their favorite pw that they can find. But guys like that don't need to subscribe to a porn site, they obviously don't care about convenience and everything can be downloaded for free from piratebay.
Big "Wallmart" style porn sites are the best thing that has happened to porn during this decade along with Fatja Kassin semi-retirement. They are not competing with good DVD companies like JM-you ain't gonna see a bukkake or girlvert on RK anytime soon. Their business model is based on giving pervs the best value for their money. What's not to like?
