I did some more Google searches on Stevie before insulting him further. That steviewhy.com site makes him look like a complete fuck-head. Should take that thing down. Makes it look like the entire UCSD campus united against him because of that no-talent hack of a porno. And, the free speech argument, ugggh!!. The show they had on SRTV wasn't that bad. It reminds me of when Howard Stern did his TV show. Not the thing where they recorded his radio show and put it on TV, but when he was making specific content for TV. Only, Stevie's show, they didn't bother to make up some script like "Lesbian Dating Game", so it seemed a lot more amateur. Howard can be funny, but never thought it was because he was specifically more talented. Just willing to do what other people weren't on TV and radio. Stevie proves that point. Wasn't able to sit through more than a few minutes of any of the episodes, but they put them all on the web: http://www.thekoala.org/KoalaTV/index.htmlI think the free speech argument on the internet awhile back was more popular. People were running around everywhere thinking they could say whatever they want wherever they want. That show and the stupid argument was probably at about the same time. Plus, Stevie was 22 at the time. Probably had never bothered to read anything about civil rights. Was just shouting about nonsense he had heard other people shouting about. Stevie is a stupid name. Feels like you're talking about someone's stuffed animal. I'm just gonna call him fuck-head instead. He should have played the game more and when the station started bitching about nudity, just laid off, made a few on-air jokes on and off about the taboo of boobs, a skit where everybody's in dire straits because they're afraid some girl is gonna lose her top, tried to stir anti-SRTV sentiment, get people talking about how stupid the rule was... Maybe he wouldn't have lost his show. Instead, it looks like he just plowed ahead and kept doing what he was doing.

Its kind of funny...I ran into that girl in the screen snaps shown a few weeks ago at a local bar; I hadn't seen her in over three years. She was my camera girl for that porn (the actress is Trinity James...I couldn't distribute my first video with an ex-gf at the time because of 2257, so not sure where the fuck you're making the gf comment). I stood for an hour talking with some friends and this random guy keeps making eye contact with me...he finally comes up and asks "Are you Steve York?" I responded with a puzzled yes...and he proceeded to point me out to all his friends as the guy who made his freshman year in the dorms actually enjoyable. Kind of surprised that four years after the fact people are still mentioning it or recognizing me. And yet, you fuckers here still are. That site had 40 million plus hits on it (overloading the UCSD servers for a few weeks), so this shit is old news. Other bloggers posted screen shots in 2005 with a helluva lot funnier comments. You're losing your touch Monkey.
And for the record "Stevie Why" comes from a nickname my high school math teacher came up with for me. There were two "Steves" in the class, a Steve P. and me, a Steve Y. He called me "Stevie Y" which eventually became Stevie Why. It became my porn name because Steve York was used by some 70s blonde gay porn star, and I certainly didn't want to be confused with him like I had for a bit with internet transactions.

And was invited to stay an extra day and speak with the California Senate Speaker Pro Temp's Office...
To help pass the first law specifically protecting state college students and First Amendment rights in U.S. history...
That Governator Schwarzenegger signed into Law...
That continues to be a model for student press protection.
Yeah, what a fucking failure I am. It helps if you don't just rely on the shitty San Diego Union Tribune for your info (and I wish I could find the full page editorial where they called me an obscenity peddler)
Its funny: Greg Piccionelli gave me the most realistic view of fighting the Regents of California in court over this: It would cost 80 to $100,000 and likely last two to five years in litigation. Passing that law did the same thing (or even more so), cost me basically just gas from San Diego to Sacramento, and was signed into law within eight months.
So shut the fuck up newbs before you know the whole story.

What the student paper did at the university I went to, they just said fuck the university and turned it into their own business, actually making money for the reporters. That's how your supposed to do it. Genuine independence. Not create some bullshit laws so you can run your mouth on the tax payer's dollar while the administration finds a way around your nonsense. Such as, shutting down the newspaper, that rings a bell?

Did Howard play it at some convention or something? So what. If Hank the angry dwarf had made a video, he'd have played that too.

The University said before the vote they would leave the station off; that ended up working in our favor, as it reminded every student on campus what a bullshit bunch of liars they were. When AB 2581 came up, there were concerns raised in the Assembly were that they did not have a case in California where a student media organization was closed down. After I met with Yee's office they used our situation as part of the argument for the law to be passed.

I'm in the top right of that picture shit bird. I went up with FSC, and ended up hitting it off with a lot of staffers as I was one of the few people around their age and quite a few had seen me on the news or had gone to other UCs and had followed it as it unfolded over a year and a half. Someone thought enough of it that Layne Winklebeck (before being fired from the incompetent FSC) was being sent press releases about the status of the bill over six months. He asked me if I knew anything about it and told him I'd gone in after lobbying days and talked to the Pro Temp's office; they kept FSC in mind with that bill. Its the type of good press they could have used; considering all FSC has done in three years is fail at every step on all sorts of issues (The Supreme Court just rejected their 2257 challenge...how much money did that fucking cost?)

Thanks for the useless info...you freelance as a Communications Professor in your off time? I print two newspapers in my free time so I'm well aware of the possible profits when you print independently; how do you get an independent television signal out of curiosity?

Uh, Howard played part of it on the air, discussed it, and Howard 100 News did two stories on how it was giving Artie's "Beer League" some good advance press and publicity. Worked out fine for us...all the porn publicity and traffic helped my production crew seal a movie, book and website deal with a major Hollywood company thats worked out well financially (My sound guy ended up taking a full time job with them). Though the movie's locked up in development hell due to problems with the company, everything else has worked out fine.

Stevie, I'm gonna look past your propensity towards paying too much attention to people who's job it is to tell you the good news, issuing press releases about what a fantastic job they happen to be doing. Because, at the very least, some of your tone now is "it worked fine for us" rather than talking about them having to shut down your university's television station because of you like it's the second coming itself. But, I really don't know how you're going to live photos of yourself like this one down: For your sake, I sincerely hope there are no photos floating out there where you're naked with that same expression on your face. P.S. Trouble believing you need to be told this, but you asked. The cheap way to distribute indepent video these days is the internet. But, that you didn't have enough money to buy your own distribution channel for your video in your UCSD days, that's not the 1st amendment's problem.
