People can always ask. I haven't, and just figured it was because of his repeatedly being told to behave on certain matters and repeatedly ignoring being told to behave. He'll be missed in certain ways, and not in others.

Planet was repeatedly warned about some of his actions in the forum. I grew tired of scolding him like a 5 year old child and decided that life would be much easier on the moderators if he weren't around.
These folks are volunteers. They have been angelic with their patience in dealing with this one individual. It was getting to the point that almost 50% of the time dedicated to forum moderation had to do with Planet's posts, his offending someone, enraging another and subsequently sending emails to the effect of "Fuck You! You stupid Fucking American! I hope Osama drops a plane on your house." We don't need that kind of shit.
The decision to ban him was made by me. It was not based on any single incident or forum post.

I know some folks found his mannerisms entertaining, I know I did at times. But we can't make such a huge exception to the forum rules simply because a person is occasionally funny.

I had a hard time figuring him out. I am still relatively new here (Walter, look at the number of posts you made, are you sure you know what you are talking about), so I found it difficult at times to decide if he was serious about something or not. There were more than a few occasions when that ambiguity really frightened me.
Likewise, I have a hard time figuring out if I am going to miss his posts.

I think they're genuinely funny, and I've never seen a single one of them purposely insult another.
Drew - I'm not saying this just because of the Planet thing, and yes, on occasion he was funny, but I respect all the decisions of you and Steph and it's difficult decisions like this that you guys have to make that keep me coming back.

I'll kinda miss the guy, though at times it seemed as if he was teetering on the edge, and I respect Drew and Steph's decisions in these matters.
Back when he was making those inflammatory postings and emails, I talked him into just chilling for awhile, until his crisis or whatever it was had passed. Maybe he didn't take enough time off.

After a particularly ugly meltdown last fall, I flatly refused to have any more to do with him than I absolutely had to. He could be funny and, in fact, helpful when he wanted to be, but, at the end of the day, the negatives far outweighed the positives, and frankly, he should count himself as lucky to have been afforded so much slack for so long.

Thank you Drew. As others I was occasionally amused by some of his posts but for the very reason why you stated you banned him is precisely why I'm glad he's gone. There is a line and to be repeatedly warned and to flaunt is way over it. It wasn't that he had an honest opposing opinion it was to just say something inflammatory to start a fight. Usually it was something in very bad taste too to get the maximum anger out of you too. Per the constant U.S. bashing and practically saying stuff like 9/11 was our fault and that's what we deserved.
