My best advice with oil painting it to try to get somebody else to do it.

I'm not sure if you are getting into painting to be artistic or because of a home improvement project. The general rule seems to be baseboards kitchens (especially inside cabinets) and bathrooms get oil paint. And if you have time do 2 coats in the bathroom. Latex for everything else.

As for pickle jars they are useful for cleaning off oil paint brushes and storing paint thinner. PM me if you want to discuss painting.
