I am buying my first bluetooth headset. I'm looking at several models of Jawbone, Sennheiser, and Plantronics headsets. Does anyone here have any experience with these or other brands? Any horror stories you want to pass along or praises you want to sing? Which is better in the ear or over the ear?

I hear a lot of great things about Jawbone. I still don't have a headset yet. I hide my phone under my hair. My car has a speaker/bluetooth option but I don't know how to use it.

I use Sennheiser VMX at work. Very clear quality, but I have nothing to compare it to. I only use it 3 times a week.

None of them fit my ear or head properly, or just look goofy when wearing them.
Instead, for the car, I bought a BlueAnt S1 visor speakerphone. It just works. People often tell me later that they couldn't tell I was on a speakerphone.
It is supposed to be voice activated to answer calls, but usually I have the stereo on when calls initially come in, so I think that affects how it responds when I try to answer them that way. It can pair with two Bluetooth phones simultaneously, so you can use it to answer calls from a few people in the vehicle. Has a ton more features as well; check their website if you haven't used one before. I have also had some friends with other Bluetooth speakerphone gadgets check it out and comment how they prefer this one over the older ones they own.

Speaker phones are definitely the way to go if I needed this for the car alone, I probably should have explained my usage better. I will also use this with my laptop. Using skype cordless and even watching porn on the road, so I think it's safer to stick to a head set.
Sounds like most here are fond of the jawbone, I will wait to see if there is any more input. Loop has experience with the Sennheiser, the one I saw was a little on the expensive side.
This is not an Alex Panzer post, I intend to buy and soon, I just want to be as informed as I can before I do.

For watching movies, I don't know, maybe it doesn't matter with porn, but you know they have bluetooth headphones? The headphones can be used for stereo audio from music or movies as well as for mono audio for stuff like phone calls.
I just looked into these. Altec Lansing has the ones with the best audio quality. But, if you wear them while exercising, the sweat will destroy them. Sony's are waterproof but don't have as good sound quality. I ended up deciding not to buy either because neither sounded like a fantastic product. I just stuck with my old Motorola S9's that I wear exercising all the time. And, I'm fine with the audio quality. No idea if the Sony's would be better for audio though. The Altecs and the Sonys were about $100. The Motorola S9's were $50. When I looked into it, I decided even if I were buying now, I'd probably get the S9's again, despite the other two being much more recent products. But, I didn't try to find out how the S9's audio compared to the Sony headphones, which I would do first before buying.

No, this is entirely the type of thing Panzer posts about...

I have worked with a friend to try to get this working (using same bluetooth headsets with his phone as with his pc), and eventually we just gave up and went with corded headsets and non-bluetooth wireless headsets (like the Logitech ClearChat PC Wireless headset).
To get decent bluetooth functionality on Windows, you need an added bluetooth stack. The best one we could find was the BlueSoleil one. They have been improving it over time, and the most recent one we used was miles ahead of one of the earlier versions we had tried (including dedicated Skype functionality), but it is a long way from the effortless bluetooth experience you are familiar with between headsets and mobile phones. The experience was flaky at best when we gave up about six months ago -- sometimes would work perfectly; other times would have problems re-pairing with the computer. This was with multiple mobile phone-style bluetooth earpieces, larger headphone-sized headsets, and multiple bluetooth transmitters (onboard on laptops, external dongles).
Someone else may have had better mileage, but the shortest distance between two points for us was a corded headset, rather than getting a workable configuration between our existing pc's and bluetooth earpieces from our phones.
(I will say that the Mac OS X built-in bluetooth stack seemed far more versatile and seemed to 'just work' like everything else on the Mac.)

jawbone is yesterday's news, though if you're deadset on one go jawbone 2. i refuse to be one of those bluetooth fags running around having a ghost conversation making people turn around thinking i'm talking to them because i'm not holding anything up to my ear. its a question of reputation and decency vs. convenience. getting cited in the car talking on the phone isn't an issue because windows are tinted illegal enough to impound and on the off chance i get pulled over just get it stripped off to show proof and then right back on- and that's only once every 10 years since we lack idiots with fifteen degree hat tilts in this fine city.
gun to my head i'd go motorola since everyone at the office has 'em- the thin rectangular ones, not the ovals. if this is really just a gift for Panzer like i suspect then get the most expensive shock collar that income allows and tell the fool its bluetooth.
its the scariest shit ever to watch someone hold a coversation withones self...until you see the bt headset.....

@Mark
I doubt you need a prop of any kind to make you like a fag.
@Northrop
I intend to actually spend money, so it makes this unlike any Panzer post. I am already invested in an mp3 player and it is not bluetooth capable, so I don't think the stereo headset is what I'm looking for. I don't need to hear a whore moaning in stereo just to jerk off.
@duckduckgoose
Thanks for the heads up on the technical problems. My vaio has built in bluetooth and I'm running Win 7. I'm probably opening up a nasty can of worms just on the drivers front, but a challenge can be fun. I recently had to find a USB to RS232 converter that worked in win 7. If I have any trouble I'll definitely look at getting BlueSoleil.
