7-year-old Jessica Dubroff was murdered because her parents wanted her to break the record of flying around the world or country on "her own". But the plane was overloaded and they were flying during bad weather. The parents never accomplished anything worthwhile on their own in their lives. So filling the head of a little girl with dreams of making money to provide for her family made her agree to the stunt that took her life and everyone else on board.
I'm sure the parents of this child will feel differently when she's kidnapped by Somali pirates. The country should keep custody of her and never return her back to her parents until she's of legal age and thinking more clearly.
I remember when my parents wouldn't let me stay over friend's homes during sleepovers. But sailing around the world on her own for two years doesn't seem to worry these "parents".
