I think it is more a case of her father being a pragmatist. He probably figured that she wouldn't listen to him if he told her not to do these things, so he tried to look out for her interests anyways.

Unfortunately, he should have been a realist, and understood that even if he told her to get a contract because the photographer would try to rip her off, that she wouldn't insist on that anyways, and would still get fucked over.

He would have been better off going with her, and extracting a percentage upfront as her pimp.
