While not wanting to derail Coke's venerable "Obama Incompetence" thread, Bornyo made an interesting comment in it that I'm dying to see expounded upon. Interesting because it does seem to explain how a few people approach the board:

This "shunned" list.. I see that as a consolation, it doesn't make you a bad person. But, being on it, it's a bad thing? Does being on it somehow make your time at XPT less entertaining and or rewarding? Having Monkey auto-unban you, this doesn't save you from being on it? (I'm hoping it does, because that would be my saving grace from possibly having to endure membership! )

This "shunned" list... Is it related to how some kids in adolescence defined their self-worth by how many people would be friendly to them on a casual basis?

Who keeps this list and why does anyone care about it? Has it somehow been made "official"? If there is an official copy, I'd like to check if Coke is really on it. Because to me, he seems to have a good time ranting about his bigotry and elitism all wrapped up in conservative politics!

Til now, I just was not aware there was any concern or consolation over such a list...
