Hell, I'm a lifelong bachelor, but of course I have an opinion.

I don't think it is a primary cause to say someone is abusive or neglectful. I think it is only abuse/neglect if there are concurrent problems and medical advise to address the obesity problem. But, if the child is having problems due to obesity, and the medicos advise diet/exercise/etc. and the advise is not followed by the parent, then, yes.

So, we don't go snatching up every mother and fat child we see, but we do whatever is usually done when parents go against medical advise.

But, just because I don't think obesity by itself constitutes abuse, doesn't mean I condone parents letting their children become obese. Poor parenting, perhaps, but abuse/neglect, no.
