WEST PALM BEACH — The one-time professional escort accused of trying to have her husband killed could go to trial late this year or early next year, her attorney said Wednesday.

Dalia Dippolito, 27, faces a solicitation to commit first-degree murder charge after allegedly hiring a hitman to take out her husband of six months, Michael Dippolito. The hitman, though, turned out to be an undercover Boynton Beach officer.

Defense attorney Michael Salnick complained to Circuit Judge Jeffrey Colbath at a brief hearing this morning that it seems to him the attorneys in the couple's divorce case are trying to dictate things in the criminal case.

The couple are in the midst of a divorce, litigating whether the deed to the couple's Boynton Beach home is valid. Michael Dippolito transferred the title of the property to Dalia Dippolito — a possible fiscal green light to go ahead and kill him — less than a week before she was arrested.

Boynton Beach police told Dippolito her husband had been killed, filming her the whole time, as well as her exchange with the faux hitman. The video soon went viral on the Internet.

Salnick said Wednesday that he could not discuss what Dippolito's defense may be. She was not present in court this morning.

No specific trial date has been set
