I think it is a bit silly to believe that somebody can be "run off" a discussion board on the internet. Sadly, Bornyo and Loucypher think that posting mean messages on a porn board can run somebody off. Can anybody post such a nasty, mean message on here that I will be run off and never return??? Just promise that you won't mentally scar me for life. Give it your best shot here.

Yeah, I agree. I do think that it is a simple matter of statistics. People come and people go. Some of them get into flame wars along the way before they get bored and move on. It is the height of ignorance and arrogance for somebody to take credit for chasing someone else off who left out of simple boredom. Unfortunately, I think we have quite a few members here who are so full of shit they actually believe they had something to do with people leaving.
I've never been able to abide a bully.

Does it really seem so impossible that someone can be so hurt by an attack on a board that they conclude that it is better to not post anymore? Because that has happened here on more than one occasion but there are certain things that have to happen before that transpires....
Well, as I already said, I don't believe it is possible...
... but don't think there isn't an element of curiosity to see what people can dish out and a desire to explore what my pain tolerance is behind posts like this one.
It's like going to a scary movie. I don't believe I can be scared, and part of me doesn't want to be scared, but for some reason, when I leave a scary movie and I wasn't scared, I feel ripped off.

Yeah, boredom isn't the only reason for leaving, but even if it's frustration... What you say about the world says more about you than it does about the world. Not that being frustrated isn't an entirely healthy reaction sometimes. And yes, I probably am being entirely too abstract at this juncture...

Smartt 'left' the board not because he wanted to, but because he got so mad that he started to attack the board with a post bot and was banned. Quite a few went this way.
The post themselves do not usually cause an exodus. It's mostly the embarrassment after the meltdown response to posts. I can tell that davis will not be the type to meltdown or emotionally scar any further. The scarring of his life was seemingly done at a very early age.
